Recurring Dreams

I wonder at the meaning of recurring dreams. I don’t typically have them close together, but rather months perhaps years apart. My first recurring dreams were always horrific nightmares of shadow creatures lurking in the corners, always about to rush at me from the darkness. In these dreams I am always paralyzed and unable to fight back.

But last night I had another recurring dream, at least a portion of a dream that recurred. The house I grew up in sat on ten acres of woods and fields, and I spent much of my time just walking in the woods. But in these recurrent dreams there is a part of the dream when I get to two different parts of the field when I stop to listen. Then, always from the same two spots a dozen coyotes stand and look at me. They don’t come at me all at once, but rather they come in pairs testing me to see if I am pretty. Nipping at my pants leg and yipping around me keeping me spinning and never able to focus on just one. With no weapon it is not long before I am overwhelmed.

Recurring dreams. I’ve read here and there about how they could have meaning, or that your brain is processing your inner thoughts. I don’t know, but I do know that dreams always lead to interesting stories. What are your recurring dreams?
