Finished with The Terror by Dan Simmons. This is a great horror/historical fiction novel that follows the ill fated 1845 Franklin Expedition as they attempt to find the North West Passage. I highly recommend it for fans of horror and suspense. The amount of detail that Dan Simmons went into shows his in meticulous research into the history and cultures of the Inuit peoples that the explores interact with.
In February our power went out for a week here in San Antonio due to the extreme Texas snowstorms. Sitting in the dark with only a headlamp or a candle to read by made this the perfect book to read. Jean Auel creates an absolutely believable primeval world. Her exploration of the spiritualty and simple logic of early humans makes the story all the more rich.
